The new edition has been updated by adding four new chapters, keeping in mind the present scenario and the curricula of all Indian universities. The new chapters are on; Ergonomics in Dental Practice Local Anesthesia in Children and Medical Emergencies in Dental Office Guidelines for Managing Occupational Exposures to Bloodborne Pathogens. Some of the old chapters have been revised and upgraded. A lot of new diagrams in the chapters of Osteology, Neuroanatomy and Transmission of Nerve Impulse have been added. Similarly some diagrams related to Local Anesthetic Agents, Injection Techniques have also been added. The chapter on HIV and Guidelines for Occupational Post-exposure Prophylaxis has been totally revised to include management of exposures to other bloodborne pathogens.
